FC Septemvri (Bulgarian: ФК Септември) is a Bulgarian football club based in Simitli, which currently plays in the Third League, the third tier of the Bulgarian football league system.
History
The club was founded in 1942. From 1961 to 1975, it was called "Pirin miner". The players at that time were mostly young boys from the age of 18 to 20, with the exception of goalkeeper Dimitar Atanasovski (former player from Belasitsa). The recruited coach was Stoimenov and assistant coach was Radoslav Mitrevski (former player of CSKA Sofia and OFC Pirin Blagoevgrad).
As of 2011, Septemvri is officially affiliated as a satellite to Levski Sofia. On 15 March 2012, the team reached the 1/2 finals of the Bulgarian Cup for the first time in its history, eliminating Bulgarian powerhouse CSKA Sofia in the quarter-finals by a score of 2:1. They lost in the next round against Ludogorets by a score of 1:4.
O Septemvri Simitli foi fundado em 1929 como Septemvri e posteriormente renomeado para Orel. O clube mudou seu nome de volta para Septemvri em 1945 e mudou para o nome atual em 1957.
O clube mandou seus jogos no Estádio Septemvri, com capacidade para 8.000 pessoas. As cores do clube são vermelho e branco.
O maior sucesso do Septemvri Simitli foi vencer a Segunda Liga búlgara em 2008-2009. O clube também conquistou a Copa da Bulgária em 1962 e 1963.
O Septemvri Simitli participou de competições europeias em duas ocasiões. O clube disputou a Copa dos Campeões Europeus em 1962-1963 e a Taça das Taças Europeias em 1963-1964.
O Septemvri Simitli é um dos clubes de futebol mais populares da Bulgária. O clube tem uma base de fãs leal e é conhecido por sua atmosfera acolhedora nos jogos em casa.
