The DePaul Blue Demons women's basketball program is the NCAA Division I intercollegiate women's basketball program of DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. The team competes in the Big East Conference.
The Blue Demons play home games at Wintrust Arena at the McCormick Place convention center on Chicago's Near South Side and at McGrath–Phillips Arena on DePaul's Lincoln Park campus. While DePaul is among the ranks for regular appearances in the NCAA tournament with 25, they have the most appearances in the tournament without reaching the Final Four.
History
The DePaul women’s basketball team began competing in the IAIAW in 1974–1975 under coach Debbie Miller and had their first winning season two seasons later, obtaining an 11–10 record under current coach Doug Bruno.
DePaul is one of the seven core schools that left the original Big East Conference in 2013 to form the current Big East Conference. Before joining the original Big East in 2005, the Blue Demons previously competed in Conference USA, the Great Midwest Conference, and the North Star Conference.
A equipe feminina de basquete da DePaul foi fundada em 1974. O programa é liderado pela treinadora principal Doug Bruno, que está no cargo desde 1981. Bruno é um dos treinadores de basquete feminino mais bem-sucedidos da história da NCAA, tendo conquistado 13 campeonatos da Conferência Grandes Leste e 16 participações no Torneio da NCAA sob seu comando.
As Blue Demons são conhecidas por seu estilo de jogo acelerado e alta pontuação. A equipe é liderada pela armadora Sonya Morris, que foi nomeada para a equipe All-American em 2022. Morris é uma das melhores jogadoras do país e é considerada uma das principais candidatas ao prêmio de Jogadora do Ano da NCAA.
A equipe feminina de basquete da DePaul é uma das mais bem-sucedidas da história da NCAA. As Blue Demons conquistaram 13 campeonatos da Conferência Grandes Leste e participaram de 16 torneios da NCAA. A equipe também produziu várias jogadoras talentosas que se tornaram estrelas na WNBA, incluindo Deanna Nolan, Khristina Blakes e Jessica January.
