Samartex

Football Club Samartex 1996, more commonly known as Samartex, is a Ghanaian professional football team based at Samartex Park in Tarkwa that plays in the 2A Zone of the Ghana Division One League. Zone 2A has seven competing teams from the part of the Ashanti Region, Western Region and the Central Region of Ghana. The club was founded in 1995 by the Samartex Timber & Plywood Company as a recreational football club, and gained promotion from the Third Division to the Second Division of the Western Region in their first season.

O Samartex Football Club é um clube de futebol de Gana sediado em Samreboi, região Ocidental. Atualmente compete na Premier League de Gana, a primeira divisão do futebol ganês.

O clube foi fundado em 1994 pelo empresário e político ghanense George Alex Mensah. Seu nome é uma homenagem à Samartex Timber and Plywood Company, uma empresa madeireira de propriedade do governo ganês que opera na região Ocidental.

O Samartex FC manda seus jogos no Samreboi Sports Stadium, com capacidade para 5.000 espectadores. As cores tradicionais do clube são verde e amarelo.

O maior rival do Samartex é o Sekondi Hasaacas FC, outro clube da região Ocidental. Os dois clubes se enfrentam no clássico regional conhecido como "Derby da Floresta".

O Samartex FC nunca conquistou um título nacional, mas já foi vice-campeão da Premier League de Gana em duas ocasiões: 2007 e 2010. O clube também foi campeão da Segunda Divisão de Gana em 2001.

O Samartex FC tem uma forte presença nas categorias de base e já produziu vários jogadores que chegaram à seleção ganesa, incluindo John Mensah, Stephen Appiah e Asamoah Gyan.

O clube também tem uma forte conexão com a comunidade local, realizando diversas atividades sociais e educacionais na região Ocidental.
