Western Spirit

Western Spirit Football Club are an Australian football (soccer) club from Goodna, a suburb of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. The club was formed in 2005 from a merger between Goodna Soccer Club and Camira Soccer Club and currently play in Brisbane Premier League Division 1. They narrowly missed out on promotion in 2015 finishing 3rd and then going on to make the Grand final, going down to Souths United 3–0.

The club draws its members mainly from the outer Brisbane suburbs Goodna, Camira, Springfield, Redbank Plains, Forest Lake, Inala and even Greenbank. Although Western Spirit is a relatively new club it is one of the largest clubs in the Ipswich area, as well as being 1 of only 3 clubs in the district to have 2 or more fields being in ownership of the club. The club offers almost every age-group and gender, membership, with members participating in an active team.

O Western Spirit foi fundado em 1951 por um grupo de imigrantes italianos e logo se tornou uma força importante no futebol de Perth. O clube venceu a Premier League da Austrália Ocidental em 1961, 1962 e 1963, e também venceu a Copa da Austrália Ocidental em 1959, 1960, 1961 e 1962.

Na década de 1970, o Western Spirit continuou a ser um dos principais clubes de Perth, vencendo a Premier League da Austrália Ocidental em 1972 e 1973. O clube também venceu a Copa da Austrália Ocidental em 1971, 1972 e 1973.

Na década de 1980, o Western Spirit começou a perder força e foi rebaixado para a segunda divisão em 1986. No entanto, o clube rapidamente retornou à primeira divisão e venceu a Premier League da Austrália Ocidental em 1989.

Na década de 1990, o Western Spirit continuou a ser um dos principais clubes de Perth, vencendo a Premier League da Austrália Ocidental em 1991, 1992 e 1993. O clube também venceu a Copa da Austrália Ocidental em 1990, 1992 e 1993.

Na década de 2000, o Western Spirit começou a declinar novamente e foi rebaixado para a segunda divisão em 2006. O clube rapidamente retornou à primeira divisão, mas foi rebaixado novamente em 2010.

O Western Spirit atualmente compete na National Premier Leagues Western Australia, a segunda divisão do futebol australiano. O clube é um dos favoritos ao título e espera retornar à primeira divisão em breve.
